Sealing a Past RecordIn general, the process of having a sealed record is initially conducted through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) with a background check. Once FDLE conducts the background check, a motion is filed with the court to seal your record. If you have no prior convictions, you may be able to have your record sealed. As a criminal defense attorney, I have the experience to help you file a motion with the court for such an action. Once sealed, in most instances you can legally state that you do not have a criminal record. Subsequent background checks by prospective employers or schools will yield no criminal past as it is no longer public record. Expungements and First-Time Offenders
